Always consult your physician before you start a new exercise. (But that’s not the one thing!)
I have to restart my workout routine.
I recently realized that I couldn’t remember the last time I had strapped on my running shoes to hit the county road that surrounds my house.

Running had been a coping mechanism I had grown to love after pulling myself out of a toxic friendship. Every step I took was another step down the path to having my mind restored back to the positive person I used to be.
I would crave working out. When the mornings were too cold for me to run, I would jump on my Bowflex and sweat out at the same pace I would normally take on my run.
Working out is addicting. The feeling you get after you realized you got up and showed up for yourself is hard to duplicate any other way.
Thinking back to that incredible feeling makes me stop and think:
When did I stop craving my workouts?
Are you like me? Did you lose track of the last time you had a sweat session?
Work on Your Mind
It hit me this morning when I noticed the end of the month was already here. I was working through my planning routine and noticed tomorrow was the beginning of a new month with a Monday start.
Thinking about Monday triggered me to think about restarting bodyboss. It’s an in-home (or wherever) workout program that I had purchased a few years ago. I had always started and then made it to the second week before I would quit.
I had it in my mind that by that amount of time I should be seeing major results.
It was silly for me to think that way. I couldn’t expect to outwork my fork. If my eating habits sucked, how was I going to look any better?
Sunday nights seemed to trigger me to want to restart bodyboss. Because I wasn’t prepared to revamp my lifestyle at 9 pm and I didn’t have a solid plan for meals and prep, I would fail every time.
My definition of failure is quitting.
DON’T QUIT
I would quit because I wasn’t mentally ready for the physical changes I was about to put my body through.
So, before you restart your workout routine, get your head in the game.
Figure out why you are working out. Different desires will bring different results.
Remind yourself that you are just getting started and that you will hit challenges along the way but you should not quit.
When your mind is strong, your body will follow.
