My first day back to working out. I fell hard off the health wagon, and my body was paying for it. My skin, sleep, joints, and clothes look like they belong to someone else.
I pulled out my BodyBoss Method book. BodyBoss is my go-to workout every time I have that light-bulb moment of inspiration that I should start sweating it out again. The only problem is, I’ve never kept up with the program longer than two weeks.

While I was going through the work outs, I got to thinking: This is awesome! Why did I stop doing this?
THE HEALTH GOAL SETTING DRAMA
There are a lot of goal setting experts out that. I am not going to pretend to be one of them. The advice the experts give is to set a specific goal you want to achieve and the exact time you want to accomplish it.
That’s great advice, but is it the best advice for all health goals?
THE DATE
Let’s use my goal as an example.
My personal goal is to be back to a size 4.
Losing weight goes hand in hand with this, but a woman in her thirties doesn’t lose the weight the way she used to lose weight.
So, how do I set a goal date for this if I really don’t know how long it will take me?
This was part of my problem. I would set goal dates and expect to be moving along down the path to victory only to discover I would not reach my goal end date.
That was a huge disappointment to me, which would trigger me to think I had already failed.

THE GOAL
Another part of the problem?
The goal itself.
Size 4 isn’t the same size in all brands and articles of clothing. If I changed the goal to be my weight and said I wanted to weigh 120 pounds, would that be the same as what I wanted to look like in a pair of jeans?
I have no idea.
I don’t know if anyone could know that.
THE SOLUTION FOR HEALTH GOAL DRAMA
If you are happy with the way you set your goals, please keep doing what you are doing.
You should always set a goal, otherwise you have no idea what you are working towards.

Form your personal brand.
Now, I’m not talking about starting your own business of making clothes. I’m talking about designing the image you, and everyone else will see when they look at you. And, beyond the looks, design a positive feeling when you see yourself.
Think about creating a vision board. You cut and paste pictures of what you want your life to look like. A lot of people use this as a manifesting technique.
But, take that thought a little future and decide what you want your body to look like and how you feel in a specific type of outfit or article of clothing.
Our inner confidence makes our looks.
For example, I love jeans.
Jeans are a big part of my personal brand. The thing I don’t like about jeans is when my gut hangs over the top of my favorite pair. Not sexy, right? I see myself in the mirror and think, ‘Okay, let me grab a pair I don’t love.’ That action takes my confidence down, and after that I just feel ‘blah’.
Does that happen to you?

My point is, setting a specific goal with exact numbers doesn’t always work.
Try picturing the feeling you want to achieve or they way you want to look.
Having an ideal, healthy weight is a good goal, but don’t let your disappointments keep you from achieving your own health goals.
